The Face I Reveal, The Face I Keep: Why I Paint What Cannot Be Spoken
There are parts of us that the world sees…
and parts of us that remain quietly within.
Much of my work lives in that space.
The faces I create are not always meant to be understood at first glance. They are not always comfortable. They are not always easily defined. And that is intentional.
Because we are not always easily defined.
There is a language beyond words, a language of expression, of feeling, of knowing without needing to explain. Art, for me, has always been a way to speak in that language.
The Silent Keepers series, in particular, reflects this deeply.
These faces hold something.
Not hidden… but not fully revealed.
They represent the inner world, the thoughts we carry, the emotions we process, the truths we may not yet be ready to speak aloud. And yet, they are present. Always present.
I believe we all wear faces.
Not in a way that suggests inauthenticity, but in a way that reflects the many layers of who we are. The self we show, the self we protect. The self we are still discovering.
Through my work, I am not trying to give answers.
I am creating space.
Space for you to look, to feel, and perhaps to recognize something within yourself, something that does not require explanation to be valid.
If a piece speaks to you…
It is not by accident.
Thank you for being here.
Truly.
