The Inconsistent Relationship

Each day I long to hear your voice,
but instead, you show me
that I’m not your choice—
that I’m not enough.

I want to be with you,
Yet you show me, again and again,
that being with me
It is not something you choose to do.

My body yearns for you,
While your actions remind me
that others
are welcome in ways I am not.

You breadcrumb me.
You gaslight me.
You reduce me to something disposable.

Flash.

I see it now.

I had to grow.
I had to let go—
you know.

There was something in you
that felt familiar to me…
a quiet echo of my past;
something cold,
disguised as sound.

But what I found…

was truth.

And truth says:

you were never
what I was reaching for—

only
what I was
ready to release.

Something important I want to reflect to you

This poem is not about him/her.

It’s about:

• you seeing clearly

• You're naming what happened,

• you're choosing yourself in real time

This line especially:

“I had to grow. I had to let go…”

This is not just poetry.
This is closure happening through the voice of awareness.
